  • 1. How do I set up my email account in MeSign APP? What email protocols are supported?

    MeSign APP supports famous cloud email service provider and enterprises email, and also supports free email service such as Outlook (Hotmail), Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Aol Mail, Yandex Mail, etc., and support Exchange, SMTP(SSL), POP3(SSL) and IMAP(SSL) by default. In addition, it configures SSL to securely connect to the mail server by default. Some free email services do not have SMTP/POP3/IMAP service enabled and MeSign APP cannot log in. Please log into your email account in the web to enable SMTP/POP3/IMAP service.

    MeSign APP supports SRV and AutoDiscover to get email server parameter automatically. MeSign also preset some commonly used email servers’ setting, but if it requires you to enter the correct mail server parameter, please set it correctly.

  • 2. My mail server does not support SSL certificate. Can I use MeSign APP?

    MeSign APP preferentially configures SSL SMTP, SSL IMAP and SSL POP3 by default.

    If your mail server does not support SSL, you can still use MeSign® APP. However, it is recommended to deploy SSL certificate as soon as possible to ensure the email server security and email account password security.

  • 3. A self-signed certificate has been deployed on my mail server, does MeSign APP support it?

    MeSign supports the SSL certificates trusted by the operating system by default. If it is a self-signed certificate, MeSign will display a security warning. It is recommended to deploy a Global Trusted SSL certificate to avoid a man-in-the-middle attack.

  • 4. How many email addresses does MeSign APP support?

    Support unlimited number of email accounts. One email address is one MeSign account on MeSign website, and you can log into your MeSign account by scanning the QR code in the login page to set up the protection password of your private key, to reset your certificate protection key, to apply to revoke the certificate and to apply identity validation, etc.

  • 5. Is MeSign APP checking the mail server’s SSL certificate status when it is setting up the email account?

    Yes, of course. MeSign verifies whether the POP3/IMAP/SMTP mail server certificate is trustworthy, whether the domain name matches, whether it has been revoked and the certificate validation level (DV/IV/OV/EV), and so on. The ‘Mail server setting’ clearly shows the status of the mail server certificate.

  • 6. When I set up the email account in MeSign APP, it always warns me my password is wrong so that I cannot login to MeSign APP, but I can confirm the password is right. What is the reason?

    There are two reasons:

    1. (1) Some mailboxes require your web login to set up the IMAP/POP3/SMTP service. If you haven’t set it up, you cannot log in to your account by using MeSign APP.
    2. (2) Since MeSign APP is a new email client software, many free or charged email service providers cannot identify or do not allow an unfamiliar email client software to log into your mailbox. You may receive a notification email and warns you ‘This APP is less secure and may have security risks.’ You just need to approve and consent to use MeSign APP to login to your mailbox. MeSign APP have passed the strict white box code security test by Cure 53, it is a famous code security test Germany company in the world. So, enjoy MeSign APP to encrypt your email automatically.
